Garden Show worth €3.5 million to the local economy
Chelsea Garden Show Gold Medalist, Diarmuid Gavin, is designing a one acre garden on the grounds of the Castlefin Partnership Complex, that will host the 2012 Northwest Garden Show on May 26th and 27th.
Now in its third year, the show has had remarkable success since its inception in 2010 and has generated over €3.5 million for the local economy in just two years. This year organisers predict a 30 per cent increase in footfall on last year’s very impressive 13,000 visitor numbers. This year also sees a new project expected to have international appeal added to the weekend’s schedule.
The new garden will be a legacy far beyond the weekend in May, say organisers. It will be built on an acre site, incorporating a traditional stone walled garden, a covered informal meeting space, internal walkways, permanent garden furniture and structure associated with the specific garden design.
CPI Ltd Director, Michael Carlin says, “the seed of our original idea was born after Castlefin won a national Pride of Place award in 2008. This gave us the inspiration to build on that momentum and what we have now is in fact the largest Garden and outdoor living event outside Dublin and Belfast.”
“The Northwest Garden Show is now a pivotal event in the national event calendar. This year we will add to that success with the addition of this high profile tourist attraction on site.”
This year the 10,000 sq. ft. Indoor Exhibition Arena will house the floral pavilion and the new and exciting Trash ‘N’ Fashion’ event. The 8-acre Outdoor Exhibition Arena will cater for up to 140 unique exhibitors spread right around the grounds showcasing a myriad of products and services with something to interest everyone.
With 12 competitions, daily fashion shows, kids zone, ‘Ask the Expert’ Area, over 15,000 visitors and an array of media attention the Committee are now inviting sponsors and exhibitors to come on board for the 2012 Show.
