The Donegal hurlers have won the Nicky Rackard cup.
The Tir Chonaill side reached the final in Croke Park after seeing off Monaghan in last month’s semi-final.
They had to work hard for today’s victory, with tenacious opponents Roscommon taking the lead several times.
Donegal manager Ray Durack had correctly identified Roscommon’s Gerry Fallon as ‘the one to watch’ in today’s game. However Fallon’s personal tally of 2-09 was not enough to thwart Donegal’s brilliant performance.
Donegal’s goalscorers were Sean McVeigh, Paddy Hannigan and Paul Sheridan. Donegal finished the game with fourteen men after controversially losing Ronan McDermott to a second yellow card.
The final score was Donegal 3-20, Roscommon 3-16.
