RTÉ snubs Donegal

The Donegal v Kerry All-Ireland Quarter-final has been snubbed by RTÉ.

In a move that has caused numerous raised eyebrows, a local sports reporter commented in a recent article that the move to air Saturday’s Dublin v Laois game instead of Sunday's Donegal v Kerry match was an odd decision.

TV3 will air the Donegal match, as RTÉ stated that their viewership would be more interested in the Dublin match, as Dublin are All-Ireland Champions.

Considering that Donegal, and Kerry alike, are both the most in-form teams, it seems an odd choice by the national broadcaster to snub Sunday’s match.

As reported by DonegalNow last month, Cllr Martin Farren was set to raise the issue about RTÉ’s editorial policy regarding coverage of Donegal events at a County Council meeting, after a major event in the county received no coverage from the state broadcaster. (For Story, click here)

While the recent decision to not show the Donegal match has been qualified by RTÉ, the issue of RTÉ snubbing important Donegal events still remains unanswered.
