Local business owner Andrew Houston, who owns Donegal Airsoft and Donegal Ice-skating in Newtowncunningham, raised an unbelievable amount of money for charity Aware – Your Guiding Light Through Depression.

The total raised was a massive €2, 286 – with all proceeds going to Aware.

Andrew organised the event in memory of his friend Lyndsey Clarke, who he tragically lost to suicide aged just 17. Andrew said he was now ‘lucky’ enough to be able to give back.

He said: “Carrying Lyndsey’s coffin at age 17 was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.”

Organising the day and seeing the great turn out knowing it was all for a worthy cause was “the most rewarding thing I have ever done”, he said.

Andrew extended his gratitude to his staff – who volunteered on the day, his family and friends, and Lydnsey’s family and friends whose combined support made the day possible.

He also thanked all those who generously donated, “I know Aware will be able to help so many people get back on track with this money, possibly saving someone's life, and it’s all thanks to you.”
