An Inishowen man has won a major award for a short film he made starring local actors.

Brendan McCallion, from Culdaff, picked up first place in the fiction category at the Ulster Media Awards last week for his short film “A Soldier’s Voice” which highlights the plight of Irish soldiers upon returning home from fighting in World War 1.

The North West Institute of Technology student wrote, filmed and edited the film himself and cast his two good friends Jonathan and Kieran French in the as the two actors in the film, which was shot on location in Inishowen.
