The County Donegal Youth Orchestra are travelling to Dungloe and Ballybofey this weekend for their annual ‘End of Season 2013 - 14’ series of concerts.  These free family concerts mark the end of yet another successful year for these young musicians, the highlight being their participation in the 14th Festival of Youth Orchestras on the National Concert Hall stage in February.

Coming from all corners of the County, the 50 members of the Youth Orchestra will perform works by Beethoven, Bernstein and Bizet as well as music inspired by Donegal from the Happy Prince and The Winds of Change suites by Vincent Kennedy.  Also included is the world premiere of Gethsemane Mo Ghile Mear featuring the Leaving Cert members.  Music to entertain and up lift you including jazz and excerpts from Les Miserables played by an extraordinary group of talented young musicians that make up the musical County Team - The County Donegal Youth Orchestra.

The Orchestra will perform in Ionad Spoirt na Rosann, Rosses Community School, Dungloe on Friday 16 May at 7pm, the first time they have performed in Dungloe.  Joining them on this occasion will be the Dungloe Junior Choir and traditional duo Karl Doherty and Joseph Mc Bride.  They then perform in the Balor Arts Centre, Ballybofey, on the afternoon of Sunday 18 May at 3pm.  While this is a free concert, capacity in the Balor is limited so to avoid disappointment please book in advance on 074 9131840.

These concerts are presented by Donegal ETB’s Donegal Music Education Partnership (DMEP), who provide quality instrumental, vocal and ensemble tuition in centres throughout the County.
