Inishowen’s Summer Solstice celebrations will get underway with a dawn chorus, 800 feet above sea-level at the iconic Grianán Áiligh.
Co-organiser Mary McCallion said, “The Féile Grianán Áiligh committee is inviting early birds throughout Donegal and Derry to gather at the fort at 3.00am on Saturday June 21st and take part in what promises to be a truly magical event.
“Our Dawn Chorus will be led by the fantastic Cór an Ghrianán, under the musical direction of Fahan’s Mura Canning. We will also have traditional musicians there to greet the dawn on the longest day of the year.”
Park and ride facilities will be provided by Féile Grianán Áiligh for €2.00
Mary added that Féile Grianán Áiligh is hoping to build on the success of last year’s Dawn Chorus and to establish a permanent, annual event.
