The 24-hour Relay will be held in the LYIT, commencing at 6.00pm sharp on Saturday May 31st with the closing ceremony occurring 24 hours later at 6.00pm on Sunday June 1st.

With a fantastic line-up of entertainment planned the Relay for Life Donegal event is sure to be a huge success once again while raising some very important funds.

Logistics Director Seamus Devine said, “We are now all systems go and eagerly await the arrival of all survivors, carers, teams, sponsors, entertainers, volunteers, and visitors.”

The Luminaria Ceremony will take place at 10.30pm on Saturday, candles will be on sale at the LYIT from Saturday morning or you can see where they are available for pre-purchase here

Siobhan Diver, Marketing Manager of Relay for Life Donegal 2014, is encouraging as many people as possible to turn out for the event.

“If you haven’t been before, now is your chance – each team has their own gazebo and there’s music and dancing, and all sorts of free entertainment! If you’ve been before I’m sure you will be back to celebrate, remember, and fight back!”

The funds raised by Relay for Life Donegal have helped the Irish Cancer Society greatly with their ongoing campaign to try and make the lives of those impacted by cancer better.

“Relay for Life Donegal has helped the Irish Cancer Society provide vital services in Donegal such as care to drive, nursing services, financial aid, helpline calls, counselling, survivors supporting survivors, youth programmes, cancer support centres, to name a few”, said Siobhan.

She continued, “All funds raised from Relay for Life Donegal 2014, will be spent on providing vital cancer services in Donegal. With 20 people every week; that’s 1,000 people every year from Donegal hearing the words “you’ve got cancer” – that’s 1,000 reasons to Relay”.

LIVE STREAMING of the 2014 Relay for Life Donegal event will be available from the onset of the opening ceremony at 5.45pm this Saturday until the closing ceremony at 6.00pm on Sunday, June 1st.
