St Patrick’s Church, Meenaneary, part of Glencolmcille Parish, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this August Bank Holiday Weekend.

All are welcome to join in the church’s celebrations taking place this Sunday, August 3 starting at 6pm with a Eucharistic Procession led by local schoolchildren. This will be followed immediately afterwards by a Mass at which Bishop Philip Boyce will preside.

Relatives of the late Fr. McGettigan and some of the people who worked at the erection of the church 50 years ago, will also be in attendance at the ceremony. A buffet will follow with entertainment taking place in the local Community Centre.

Officially opened in 1964, the church is dedicated to the patron saint who proclaimed the Word of God to the Irish in C5.

Much work as been carried out to both the exterior and interior of the building to ensure its pristine appearance for this special occasion on Sunday.
