The award winning Johnny Cash and June Carter tribute show, complete with six piece live band, rolls into Donegal Town this weekend.
JP and June Carter (Caroline Parker) have been steadily growing in reputation over the past year and recently signed a lucrative deal with the Hastings Hotel Group. Alongside that the duo have played no fewer than 30 sell out shows at Belfast’s Crumlin Road Gaol where some of Johnny Cash’s most memorable moments have been recalled in minute detail.
On Saturday night JP and Caroline will roll back the decades for another performance of all the best known Cash hits including Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues and A Boy Named Sue. The vocal likeness to the Man in Black is eerie but as the show has developed so has JP McCauley’s mannerisms and even physical appearance.
As Johnny Cash himself once said, ladies and gentlemen, you are in for one hell of a show. While JP has played the Derry Jazz Festival two years running, this will be his first appearance in South Donegal with all the musical trimmings.
The band, which started back in December 2012, will be performing in the Abbey Hotel this Saturday, August 16 where JP Mac with his baritone voice will take on the legendary role of Johnny Cash. Strabane’s JP is then joined by his sister Caroline as June Carter with her larger than life onstage presence and an even bigger voice to match. The combination of the two and their fantastic live five piece band are wowing audiences all over.
