The Killaghtee Youth Band was formed in 1977 and performed in many events and won many competitions. Last Saturday, the re-forming of the Killaghtee Youth Band saw them performing at the Naomh Ultan GAA Pitch as part of the club’s 40th Anniversary celebrations and afterwards paraded through Dunkineely village. Many past members of the band travelled from near and far to be part of this special event.

As well as displays from the reunited Killaghtee Youth Band and the Ardaghey Pipe Band, the ruby celebrations featured various happenings such the blessing of the field, the planting of the remembrance tree, presentation of the first Naomh Ultan Championship team of 1975, showing of the Dún Na NGall game, traditional Irish music along with many other activities and events involving underage teams.

The day itself was a credit to the organisers as every aspect of it was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. The hard working committee who had been working on the day for months in advance deserve great praise, a day that will go down in the memory of many young and old people in the club.
