The Schools’ Business Partnership is delighted to announce that Letterkenny Institute of Technology has concluded the fourth successful year in their Skills @ Work programme for students of Carndonagh Community School.  The initiative provided firsthand insight into the business world to senior cycle students from Carndonagh Community School and is part of the Schools’ Business Partnership programme run by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI).

During the year long programme, employees of Letterkenny Institute of Technology provided a number of talks on, ‘A Day in the Life of …’ and background of the organisation; they ran workshops on how to build a comprehensive CV and develop good interview skills.  The students were also brought on two site visits to Letterkenny Institute of Technology and saw the various career opportunities that exist within education, nursing, business, finance, law, IT and sports with an insightful visit to Colab to look at entrepreneurial incubation of leading edge technology companies.

“The impact that this initiative has on the students is visible right from day one, it generates an interest and motivation for the students to succeed and to continue to work hard on their studies. The partnership has been invaluable to the school over this year and develops positively with every successive year.” said James Humphries, Business Teacher, Carndonagh Community School.
