The Letterkenny branch of Mary’s Meals will be launching their ‘Step by Step to Feed the next Child’ sponsored walk in Arena 7 on Wednesday May 28th at 8.00pm.

‘Step by Step to Feed the next Child’ invites people from all across Ireland to take part in a sponsored walk from their hometowns/villages/parishes to Knock Shrine, Co. Mayo in August 2014 to raise awareness of the work done by Mary’s Meals.

13 members of the Mary’s Meals Letterkenny Support Group will begin their walk from Malin Town on August 7th. They will complete their walk over 9 days and plan to arrive in Knock at 11.00am on Friday, August 15th.

The night will consist of an awareness presentation, with a question and answers round after, a short film about Mary’s Meals, and full details of the Sponsored Walking taking place in August.

“The idea of people ‘walking together’ is one of the ways I think about the whole of the Mary’s Meals movement,” said founder Magnus.

Mary’s Meals is an international charity that sets up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.

The campaign aims to provide chronically hungry children with one meal a day within the school environment – so children are encouraged to gain an education that can lift them out of poverty in later life.

To date, Mary’s Meals provides daily meals for over 890,000 children in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe.
