This year’s Letterkenny Gaels production of the Sam Cree Classic Second Honeymoon will see a very formattable team of female actors take to the stage in the club house at the Gebe, Letterkenny.

Audiences are, without doubt, in for a treat when this comedy play opens on October 18.

Let’s meet the Girls in the Second Honeymoon.

Celine Bradley and Sheila Sweeney will return to act in their fourth comedy play in as many years.

Both actresses have played leading roles in all three of the previous Letterkenny Gaels stage productions.

They also represented the club in the stage performance “The AGM” in the 2016 club entry in Scór Sinsear.

Celine and Sheila are delighted to be part of the cast in Second Honeymoon.

Celine and Sheila will be joined on stage by Rosemarie Gildea, no stranger to the stage. Rosemarie has a stage career dating back too many years to mention.

Her stage CV includes roles in the Field, Widows’ Paradise (1997 & 2007), Wedding Fever, Arsenic and Old Lace (1995 & 2005), Calendar Girls, Don’t Tell the Wife, Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls and the Sound of Music.

In recent years Rosemarie has partnered with this year’s play director, Garry Coll, as a comedy duo in the Letterkenny Pantomimes and will do so again in January 2019.

Brigette Cavanagh will this year make her debut on the Letterkenny Gaels stage.

Brigette returns to the stage after taking a long career break from amateur drama to bring up her family.

During the 1980s, Brigette played a number of lead roles in Pantomimes and starred as Mrs Johnston in the musical Blood Brothers over 30 years ago.

As a primary school teacher, she was also very involved in music and drama all through her teaching career.

Brigette and Celine last performed together in the Tops of the Town.

Neither can remember what year. The less said the better!

After two years as stage manager, Catherine Cannon made her stage debut in last year’s Letterkenny Gaels production of Separate Beds.

She returns this year to play Mrs Mansfield and is enjoying every minute of the production. Catherine Cannon is an avid GAA supporter and has fulfilled many roles for club down through the years.

Last but by no means least, Rachel McGettigan makes her acting debut as the newly wed Sally Mitchell.

However, she is no stranger to the stage having performed as a member of world street dance champions Fox n Crew for over 10 years.

A music technology graduate, Rachel performs together with singer Maria McCormack for many years at weddings, festivals and venues throughout the country.

Second Honeymoon will run for eight nights over two weekends from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st and Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th October in the Letterkenny Gaels Club room on Thorn Road.

Tickets can be bought at the Arena 7, George Sweeney’s Shop, Swilly Group Office on Business Park Road, from members of the cast or Letterkenny Gaels committee members.
