St. Naul's had a three point winning margin in the big south Donegal derby game as the new All-County League got  up and running in earnest.

Four Masters 1-7

St Naul’s 0-13

St Naul’s were good value for this Division 2 win and actually led by 0-13 to 0-5 with seven minutes to go.

But all changed utterly when their influential midfielder Barry Griffin was lined after an incident with Conor Rooney of Four Masters.

This happened in the middle of a second melee involving around 18 players - in the space of eight minutes -incidents which were more like Strictly Come Dancing with a few tumbles to the ground as extra moves to impress the judges.

But, Griffin’s departure seemed to galvanize Masters as marksman Conor McDaid added two points and a previously quiet Kevin McBrearty hammered a loose ball to the after Naul’s keeper Gavin Mulreaney brilliantly saved the spot kick from Conor McMonagle.

It was a dramatic finish but St. Naul's held on to take the full points.
