Donegal have been beaten again in Division 2B of the Allianz National Hurling League.

This afternoon, at O'Donnell Park in Letterkenny, it finished:

Donegal 0-15, Wicklow 2-13.

This defeat means that Donegal are likely to end up in a relegation play-off, although they will need to beat Warickshire.

Playing against the stiff breeze in the second half, Wicklow had the edge and emerged as deserving winners.

Donegal, who has lost their two previous league games against Kildare and Derry, had to field without star player Declan Coulter, who was ruled out through a calf injury.

Lee Henderson took over the free taking duties.

He was key to Donegal with six points in what was at times a scrappy first half and  and the home side went in leading by 0-8 to 0-5.

Sean McVeigh got the first point of the second half for Donegal but the Leinster side then had the tonic of a goal from Eoin McCormack.

And a second goal for the visitors, from Jonathon O'Neill, who was only just on the field as a substitute, put them into a 2-8 to 0-11 lead.

Donegal were always chasing the game after that.

They never stopped battling but Wicklow held on for victory.

Henderson got ten points for Donegal.
