A Donegal side will take on a Gaoth Dobhair senior team in a fundraising game at Pearse Memorial Park in Ardara this Saturday, at 6.00 pm.
The "Game for Owen" will help to raise funds for a Donegal emigrant who is battling against cancer in New York.
Owen McConnell (pictured above) from Ardara lives in Mahopac, New York with his wife Joanne (also Ardara) and children Finian (12), Mia (11,) Roma (8) and Kyia (6).
In October last, their world was turned upside down when Owen was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung, Lymph Node and Bone Cancer.
Owen is currently undergoing long term treatment and a fund raising campaign has been initiated to help the family fund his  ongoing medical expenses.
Owen is well known in the Donegal Community in New York and through his construction business has provided employment for numerous young Donegal lads who have travelled there for the summer to play with Donegal New York GAA Club.
A group of friends and CLG Ard an Ratha have organised this game and dance with all proceeds to go towards the fund raising campaign and it is hoped that a big crowd will turn out to view what is a very attractive match as Donegal gear up for the upcoming National League campaign and Gaoth Dobhair get ready to face Corofin in the All Ireland Club semi-final on February 15th in Carrick On Shannon.
What team Donegal will put out will be influenced by tonight's Dr. McKenna Cup clash against Cavan in Ballybofey. Donegal could well be in semi-final action on Sunday.
Car Parking will be available at the GAA Grounds in Ardara on Saturday.
A one way system will operate to the Grounds via Youngs Shop at the Hill Head and Owen Byrne's on the Narin Road. Stewards will man these entrances.
Gerard McHugh buses will provide a courtesy shuttle service from the town with pickup from the Nesbitt Arms Hotel every 15 mins.
Cars can be parked in the various town car parks.
Ardara GAA club is asking the public to co operate with the stewards at all times to ensure traffic management runs smooth.
A bank account has been set up for the Owen McConnell fund at AIB Killybegs , details as follows.
