Donegal are backing to winning ways.

They beat Armagh at MacCumhaill Park to get back into the promotion race - and the hero was Michael Murphy whose first half goal was crucial.

It finished: Donegal 1-9, Armagh 0-11.

Armagh had the better of things for much of the first half and led by 0-6 to 0-4 as the break approached.

But Murphy then pounced to score a goal and give Donegal a 1-4 to 0-6 advantage at the interval.

Midway through the second half there was only a point between them as Donegal led by 1-6 to 0-8.

But Donegal then opened up a three point lead with Murphy scoring to make it 1-8 to 0-8 with 11 minutes left.

Armagh kept battling and reduced the arrears but Donegal held on for an important win.

Murphy was the man of the match.

Next up is a trip to Cork.
