Battling Donegal gave Dublin a great contest before a late flurry of points sealed the issue for the home side.

Dublin led by 0-11 to 0-6 at half time.

On several occasions in the final quarter Donegal hauled themselves back to within a point, but they also missed some scorable chances.

Paddy McBrearty scored a marvellous point to leave them trailing 0-16 to 0-15 with ten minutes to go.

But Dublin withstood the Donegal revival and went on to finally win by five points, 0-20 to 0-15.

Donega have now lost their first three games in the Allianz National Football League Division One, but Declan Bonner can still take heart from many aspects of his side's display.

And Donegal will have earned considerable respect from this outing at GAA headquarters.
