Twenty three piers around the Donegal coast were identified as being in need of repairs following storm damage but only three were given government funding, Cllr Martin McDermott (FF) has been told.

The Fishery Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme has been the only funding avenue available to the Marine Section of Donegal Co. Council outside its own limited resources.

“There are no other sources of funding available to repair areas damaged by storm and areas are continuing to deteriorate,” Director of Services, Mr John McLaughlin said.
