Donegal Airport is set to benefit from a Government backed programme to invest a further €2m in regional airports,

“This will bring the total funding figure paid by the Exchequer under the Programme to almost €13 Million in 2014," Junior Minister Joe McHugh noted

He added: "This provides much needed financial support to Donegal airport, as well as Kerry, Knock and Waterford airports. This announcement follows the Minister’s previous commitment that that the Public Service Obligation (PSO) will be retained on the Donegal – Dublin route until 2017.

“As I have stated before, public transport services are essential to rural communities, towns and villages across the country and without a rail service in Donegal, supporting the air service is crucial to businesses, jobs and the local economy of the county," he concluded.
