Donegal’s five TDs are due to return to the Dail today for a debate on the abortion referendum.

They are returning to work, following their annual St Patrick’s Day holiday, to discuss the Bill that will allow the referendum to be held about the Eighth Amendment.

It is expected that the electorate will be asked to vote in May.

They will be asked to decide if the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution should be replaced with a new provision that allows the Oireachtas to legislate for abortion.

All Dail TDs are due to sit until midnight tonight and 11pm tomorrow.

Health Minister Simon Harris this morning said that there would be sufficient time to provide information to the people, if the bill is passed before the Easter break.

Donegal’s five TDs are Fine Gael Government Minister Joe McHugh and Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty, Independent deputy Thomas Pringle, and the Fianna Fail deputies of Charlie McConalogue and Pat the Cope Gallagher.
