Anger has been expressed at the illegal dumping of vehicle tyres in Donegal rivers.

Up to 12 tyres were discovered by a passerby in the Carn River in Inishowen.

It is the latest incident of illegal dumping in Donegal rivers.

During the week black bin liners containing household waste were discovered in the Deele River in Convoy and the Mill River in Buncrana.

Stating fly-tipping in the county was in the increase, Sinn Fein Councillor Albert Doherty described the unlawful dumping as “a blight” on all those working to look after the environment.
