A suspicious device discovered on Tory island off the north-west coast of Donegal has been rendered safe by an army bomb disposal team.
The device, which was discovered last night, is understood to have been washed up by the sea.
An Explosives Ordnance Disposal team flew to the island this morning via an Air Corps helicopter and carried out a controlled explosion on the device.
Shortly after midday the scene was declared safe.
