A unique art exhibition entitled ‘Landing’ will open tomorrow evening in Donegal Airport. The exhibition features the work of Kim Sharkey, Roisin Duffy, and Emily Bazeley.

Kim Sharkey lives adjacent to the airport, and will be showing her beautiful portrayals of the wildlife and landscapes of the area. Kim works in mixed media, with some digital pieces influenced by her training in animation. An incredibly skilled artist across many disciplines including ceramics, sculpture as well as painting and animation, Kim’s work is beautifully rendered and full of soul.

Roisin Duffy, an artist and poet from Co Monaghan, has been coming to Carrickfinn beach for well over ten years. While here, she takes advantage of the inspirational landscape and peace and quiet of the area to create the poetry which accompanies each of her delightful paintings. Roisin’s work is intrinsically linked to this beautiful peninsular and its magical beaches. It has already reached an international audience, and has a universal appeal. Often exhibited in and around Dublin, this show is a fantastic chance to see some of her work on the west coast.

Emily Bazeley, also known as ‘The Faerie Tailor’ has lived in the wilds of Donegal for the past 13 years. Inspired by the folk tales of the past and the unspoilt, wild faerie places around the county Emily began producing couture and dwellings for the discerning sprite almost ten years ago. With an endless source of materials and ideas gifted only from nature, her work takes on an organic and ethereal feel. Exhibiting up and down the West Coast of Ireland, as well as some select spots in Belfast, Dublin and in between, Emily’s recognisable natural collage is unlike anything else.

Kim Roisin and Emily have worked together creatively for a number of years, and their very different styles complement each other perfectly, ensuring that this exhibition will be a feast for the eyes with something that everyone will enjoy.

The exhibition will open tomorrow evening between 6 and 7.30pm and will be on show in the departure lounge of Donegal Airport until the end of June.
