There has been considerable reaction to a post published this afternoon in relation to the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny.

Earlier today, a number of children were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital as a precautionary measure after a reaction to water in the pool.

Aura published the following on its facebook page:

The notice read: "Following the closure of the Aura Letterkenny pool this morning, after precautionary safety measures were taken in line with our safety policies following a minor incident, we wish to advise that the pool will re-open at 4pm. We apologise to all customers for the inconvenience. Aura Management."

However, there has been some strong criticism of the wording.

A number of people have been critical of the term "minor incident".

An investigation into exactly happened will be carried out.

When that is completed a clearer picture will emerge as to what exactly happened.

A fleet of ambulances attended the scene and a number of fire brigades were also there.
