Donegal County Council has issued a traffic management plan for the week ahead in regard to three sets of road works in Ballybofey.

Motorists are becoming increasingly frustrated by lengthy delays, and in particular by other drivers ignoring red lights. The problem is made worse by the fact that there are three different sets of road works between the Finn Bridge and Cappry. That makes it difficult for drivers to plan alternative routes.

However, the return to service of the traffic lights at McClay's corner in Stranorlar has helped somewhat.

Donegal County Council has released detailed information for the week ahead.

Road works at Cappry (near the Roadhouse Bar):

During daytime working hours from Monday to September 3 to Friday, September 6 there will be a one-lane traffic lights system in place.

The road will be open to two-way traffic at weekends and outside working hours.

The one-lane system with traffic lights will resume on Monday, September 10.

Road works at TSA to Topaz Service Station:

A one-lane Stop/Go system will be in operation during weekday working hours. Traffic lights will then be used overnight and at weekends as the Ballybofey-bound lane will remain closed.

Road works at Finn Bridge:

Two-way traffic is to be maintained during peak hours. Single lane closures can only take place between 6.30 pm and 8.30 am.

This means that from Monday, September 3 to Friday, September 7 there will be two-way traffic on the bridge during the day and one-lane outside peak times.

The road will be open to two-way traffic on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9.
