The organisers of the recent Buncrana Music Festival have confirmed the event will return.
Keeping to the same weekend at the end of June 2019, they have promised an even bigger spectacle at the Shore Front.
promoter Barry Doherty, of Notorious Events, said: “We were overwhelmed with the positive response we received from our first major event in Buncrana and we are going to take the knowledge we have gained from this event to expand the festival next year.”
“With an event of such a scale, we took every precaution to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival for all who attended, as well as minimising disruption to those living locally.
"We achieved our goal, with only one minor injury for the ambulance team to deal with, and very minor public order issues which our security team and Gardai dealt with professionally.”
“Next year, thanks to the safe environment we created, we intend to have family-friendly areas on site, opening up the age restrictions to allow more people to attend.”
Local acts including Don’t Fear the Natives and Great White Lies, supporting Welsh rockers Feeder wowed crowds, and the organisers have promised bigger and better again next year.
“The feedback from the artists who performed at the festival was as much a compliment to Buncrana as it was to ourselves.
"Roger Sanchez told us that he has played venues around the world, but that Buncrana was right up there as one of the best venues he’s played. He raved about the location, the scenery and the sunset, as well as the friendly reception he received.”
“With our first event under our belt, rest assured we will grow the festival and make it the premier festival in the North West for years to come. Discounted, pre-release tickets will be on sale very soon for next year, and we would advise people to get their tickets early, which will also allow us to secure even bigger acts for next year.”
“We would like to thank everyone who attended, as well as those who supported the festival and the patience of those living in the area. We would also like to thank the local traders who attended, as well as the security team, ambulance units, Donegal County Council and Gardai for their professionalism throughout the event.”
