The Board of Management of St. Mary's National School met with Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton to discuss delays in providing a new state of the art school.

Local councillor Patrick McGowan thanked Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher for organising the face-to-face meeting.

"Let's hope the couple of small technical issues that have led to unacceptable delays can be sorted soon and allow the new state of art school go to tender as was promised in 2015," said Cllr McGowan.

Planning permission for the site across from the Finn Valley Centre was extended by Donegal County Council last week, according to Cllr McGowan.

Deputy Pearse Doherty and Thomas Pringle were in attendance and supported the case made by the Board.

In 2015, the Government were criticised for not including St Mary's National School, Stranorlar in its six year Capital Plan.
