Details of an RTE/TG4 election exit poll have just been released.

The poll surveyed 3,000 people and was conducted by Red Sea.

In the European Elections, in the Ireland Midwest North-West constituency the exit poll showed the following:

Mairead McGuinness (FG) - 25%

Matt Carthy (SF) - 15%

Saoirse McHugh (Green Party) - 12%

Maria Walsh (FG) - 10%

Luke Ming Flanagan (Ind) - 10%

Peter Casey (Ind) - 7%

Brendan Smith (FF) - 6%

Anne Rabbitte (FF) - 3%

Dominic Hannigan (Lab) - 3%

Fidelma Healy Eames (Ind) - 3%

There are four seats on offer.

Midlands-North-West is a four-seat constituency, comprising Cavan, Donegal, Galway, Kildare, Leitrim, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo and Westmeath.

Meanwhile, in the Dublin constituency, it looks as if the Green Party's Ciaran Cuffe is going to top the poll.

In the Ireland South constituency, Sean Kelly (FG) looks set to top to the poll on 16%.

Meanwhile, in relation to the local elections the breakdown is:

Fine Gael 23%, Fianna Fail 23%, Sinn Fein 12%, Labour 6%, Green Party 9%, Sol/PBP 2%, Social Democrats 3%, Independent Alliance 2%.

In the divorce referendum, the exit poll showed 87% Yes.

The margin of error in the divorce referendum and local council elections is plus or minus 2% while the margin of error for the European elections is plus or minus 4%.
