Run by North West Words, the Pramerica Junior Writing Competition is now open.

Entrants are invited to submit a short story of up to 1,000 words on any theme; or a poem of up to 40 lines, also on any theme.

The judge is Deirdre Hines.

There are three categories:

Primary Schools;Secondary Schools Junior Cycle;Secondary Schools Senior Cycle;

Terms of Entry

Entries must be the writer’s original work and must not have been previously published.

Entries cannot be changed once entered for the competition.

Submitted entries can not be returned.

The judge's decision is final.

Copyright of each entry remains with the author. But North West Words and Pramerica will have the unrestricted right to publish the winning poems and stories on their website, other media and in press releases publicising the competition.

The winners of each category of each competition will receive a prize sponsored by Pramerica.

A Young Writer of the Year prize will also be awarded to one of the category finalists.

There is no charge to enter the Pramerica Creative Writing Competition.

Closing date of the competitions is 6.00pm Tuesday, May 14.

Prizes will be presented on Friday, May 24 at Café Davitt, High Road, Letterkenny at 6.00 pm.

Entries sent by Post should be accompanied by a cover sheet with the writer’s name, address, telephone number, school address, title of piece and category.
