Donegal TD Joe McHugh has confirmed he has secured a commitment to a resolution for the school bus transport issue in North Donegal.
Minister McHugh said: “Following a series of contacts across Government in recent days and a meeting with the Kilmacrennan School Bus Committee in Dublin today I am delighted to confirm a solution for eligible children on that route.
“The voice of the parents and those of schoolchildren has been heard. And we have acted.
“I spoke to Minister John Halligan after he today met officials following a review of transport options and he confirmed that he was finalising a solution to the shortage of school bus transport for children travelling to Milford.”
Mr McHugh, Government Chief Whip, said: “I want to thank Minister Halligan for his focus on this issue and for attempting to secure a resolution.
“I also want to thank Mairead Giles, Sharon Crossan and Tres Connaghan and the Kilmacrennan School Bus Committee for meeting me today and allowing me to confirm the news to them.
“I look forward to hearing from Minister Halligan in the coming days on the plans for seats on buses to be provided for the schoolchildren in the Kilmacrennan-Termon area.”
