A community variety concert will take place in this weekend in Donegal.

The concert will take place at the CAKE Centre, Killygordon, next weekend in aid of the Crossroads Community Christmas Lights.

Last year the parochial hall was packed out on three consecutive nights for a hilarious play, produced by locals. This year, the lights committee wants to give others the stage this Saturday 18 November, by showcasing all the fantastic talent in the area.

The line-up includes children from Dromore and Gleneely National Schools, a comedy written, directed and partly performed by Seimi Callaghan as well as Irish dancers, a classical guitarist, traditional music and much more. Top Letterkenny comedian Andy McGranaghan, whose ancestors hail from the area, will also provide plenty of laughs on the night.

This is the only fundraiser for the committee for the year for the upcoming lighting up event when Santa himself will return to the grotto to meet the local children and give them a present.

"We will be adding more to the switching on night this year to keep the adults entertained - more details will be announced at the concert - so your support is very much appreciated as we cannot switch on the lights without sufficient funds," said chairman Dean Gillespie.

"We are also in the process of making a beautiful new crib which will be a centrepiece at the Cross, as the old one has had its day. As a committee, we don't like going out asking for money so we try to give you something for your money instead. This concert is very much a community event for all the people of the area."

Tickets (€10 for adults & €8 for children) are selling fast and can be purchased from Bradley's Shop, any committee member or you can pay on the night.

However, pre-purchase is highly advised as the event is expected to sell out. Doors open at 6.45 pm and the will start at 7.30pm sharp. For updates, see the Crossroads Community Lights Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/Crossroads-Community-Christmas-Lights-934761509893728
