Another day in the ongoing search for missing Carrick man David Maguire has come to a close.

Huge numbers descended on Carrick Community Hall this morning as the public have once again shown their determination to aid in any way possible. According to Garda estimates there were 170 locals among the members of the Coast Guards, Mountain Rescue, and Civil Defence.

Colleagues of DMRT in Sligo/Leitrim were also on hand to help with around a dozen people and two vehicles.

The Mountain Rescue teams covered the coast from Port/Glen Lough to Teelin Harbour with the Coast Guard covering the coast from Cladach na gCaorach across, from Teelin Pier, right round to Muckross Head. The town and rivers were divided into a further 25 search areas.

DMRT would like to extend thanks to the Mountain Rescue and Coast Guard personnel who have put enormous time and effort over the past few days into preparing map packs for each individual search party.

Thanks has also been extended to the locals helping in the search, the sponsors, and the tea ladies who are keeping the teams fed and watered.

The search will resume tomorrow morning.
