As expected, Kilcar-based John McNulty (FG) gained most from the transfers of eliminated Meenaneary man Sean O'Beirne (Ind).

McNulty received 126 of the 331 votes transferred from fellow 'In Thru' candidate O'Beirne. This brings McNulty's total to 1,106 which puts him currently in fifth place. He is behind Barry Sweeney (FG) on 1,217; Micheal Naughton (FF) on 1,227; Noel Jordan (SF) on 1,598; and poll-topper Niamh Kennedy (Ind) on 1,661.

However, there are still a number of candidates not far behind McNulty. And with the number of transfers rising notably with each elimination, it is still all to play for here at the count centre in Donegal Town.

The quota of 2,043 has still not been met. The candidate with the lowest number of votes is therefore eliminated. That is Bundoran's Diarmuid Doherty. His 432 votes are now being distributed.
