A Donegal man got a real fright this week when he was worrying close to an incident that left one man dead and another injured in Canada.

Aidan O’Donnell, who hails from Milford, now lives in the city of Edmonton.

On Tuesday he had just got home from work when a major incident occurred nearby.

“I heard the gunshot fire a few times and about 10 minutes later nine or 10 police cars went speeding past MacEwan University on 104 Avenue,” he stated.

In a facebook posting he said that it happened just a few blocks from where he lives.

“It was crazy stuff,” he added.

Edmonton homicide detectives say the shooting happened around  2:20 a.m. outside the Hudson’s Canadian Tap House in the Oliver Neighbourhood at 112 Street and 104 Avenue.

“We got here and we found one male had been shot in the parking lot and another male inside had a superficial bullet wound to his arm,” said Insp. Brian Nowlan, Edmonton Police Service Duty Officer.

According to police, a fight started inside Hudson’s before the shooting.

“We understand an altercation occurred inside the bar between at least two groups of men and parts of those groups somehow made their way out into the parking lot where this confrontation continued, until such time as one individual began firing,” Insp. Nowlan told the Global News website.
