A BUNCRANA man has pleaded guilty to stealing the equivalent of approximately €10,000.
Sean McCloskey (62) of Ardaravan, Buncrana pleaded guilty to three counts of theft at Letterkenny Circuit Court today.
These charges related to the theft of €800 at Meenamullaghan, Ballymagan, Buncrana, the theft of £3,000Stg (approximately €3,800) at Ardaravan, Buncrana, and the theft of an Iveco lorry, valued at €7,000, also at Aradaravan.
All three offences occurred on dates unknown between January 1, 2011 and February 27, 2012, and all the property and cash stolen belonged to Mr Cornelius Price.
McCloskey had previously appeared at Buncrana District Court, where Judge Denis McLoughlin had refused jurisdiction in the case due to the severity of the charges and referred it to the Circuit Court.
At last week's hearing at Letterkenny Circuit Court Judge John O'Hagan adjourned sentencing until April to allow time for probation and welfare reports to be made, and to assess McCloskey's suitability for community service.
