Businessman Peter Casey has announced he is to run for the Irish Presidency.
The Dragon's Den star, who lives in Greencastle, will be among more than 10 hopefuls looking for the backing of four county councils or 20 Oireachtas members, in order to get on the ballot with current President Michael D Higgins.
Mr Casey is the third star of Dragon’s Den to enter the race after Gavin Duffy and Sean Gallagher.
He is also the second candidate with a Donegal background alongside Kevin Sharkey, bidding for the Áras.
Mr Casey's campaign platform will be based on connecting with the Diaspora and with communities.
Councils can formally nominate candidates from today and have until September 26 to do so before the country goes to the polls on October 26.
