The ESB are still working to restore power to thousands of homes across Donegal as Storm Rachel continues to batter the county.

10,000 customers in the Glenties and Derrybeg areas were affected by a large 38kv fault this morning.

While power is hoped to be restored to most homes by this afternoon, many may not see their power return until later this evening or even tomorrow as the weather conditions are hampering the ESB's efforts.

With increasing gale force winds forecast in the North West the ESB has warned that the number of customers without electricity may rise as the day wears on.

The following faults were listed on the ESB's powercheck site -

Buncrana – 22 faults since 9.30am. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Milford (Nr) – 37 faults since 11.04am. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Derrybeg – 2,344 faults remain since 2.08am. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Convoy – 50 faults since 8.36am. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Donegal Town – 47 faults since 7.54am. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Killybegs – 98 faults since 8.39am. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Stranorlar/Ballybofey area – 81 faults since 12.36pm. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Stranorlar/Ballybofey area – 22 faults since 8.16am. Estimated restore time: 7.00pm

Gweedore area – 14 faults since 8.38am. Estimated restore time 7.00pm

Gweedore area – 23 faults since 7.57am. Estimated restore time 7.00pm

These restore times may change without notice as the ESB continue their efforts to restore power.
