Ireland's oldest councillor, 83-year-old Ian McGarvey, certainly has a spring in his step.

Moments after being re-elected to Donegal Co. Council at 3.15 am during a marathon count, he was jiving.

Local woman Siobhan Grant and Cllr. McGarvey went through a few moves to the side of the count area in the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny.

McGarvey was the fifth councillor elected in the ten seat Letterkenny Electoral Area.

He has just finished his term as the Mayor of Donegal Co. Council
