Family and friends of Oisin Merritt (19), who is battling for his life after a serious accident while on holiday in Mallorca, have taken to Facebook to send messages of support.

Posts such as “Stay strong” and “Thoughts and prayers are with you” have been routinely appearing on the young man’s Facebook Page, and it is understood his girlfriend will fly to Mallorca to be by his side.

Oisin’s family flew out yesterday - though Oisin himself was due to return home yesterday (Tuesday) before the accident.

The 19 year-old, who play for Finn Harps Reserves, is understood to have suffered a fractured skull and a bleed to the brain and is currently in an induced coma.

Oisin is a popular local of the Twin Towns and everyone is hoping that he pulls through.
