A Letterkenny man who was found to be driving while exceeding the alcohol limit in December 2012 has been fined and disqualified from driving.

Michael Ward (30) of 109, Foxhills, Mountaintop appeared at Letterkenny District Court on Thursday.

Solicitor Patrick Gallagher told the court his client was a father of four with the youngest child born only a few months ago.

Mr Gallagher asked that his client’s disqualification be postponed to allow Mr Ward’s wife the opportunity to get back on the road. He explained that she had health issues but was now in a position to sit her test.

Judge Paul Kelly imposed a two year disqualification to take effect from July 1 to give the defendant’s wife time to take her driving test. Mr Ward was also fined €300.
