Fianna Fáil TD for Donegal, Charlie McConalogue, has said the scaremongering from Fine Gael over the commitment of Fianna Fáil towards the A5 road project is reckless, untrue and is used to distract attention from their complete failure to articulate any vision for the future of public transport.
He commented, “The scaremongering from Minister McHugh helps no one. The A5 road project is a priority for Fianna Fáil and remains so.
“It was Fine Gael who delayed the A5 development this year by diverting €27m in funding due to their calamitous management of the National Children’s Hospital project.
He continued: “The government should focus more on governing rather than reactionary politics and scaremongering. The reason why Fine Gael is trying to spread this misinformation in Donegal and around the country is to distract attention from their complete failure to articulate any vision for the future of public transport.
“Ultimately in the North West we require greater connectivity, including a significant investment in our road network. This is a priority and one I will continue to push with the Minister for Transport at every opportunity,” concluded Deputy McConalgoue.
