As the count in Carndonagh comes to an end, the big news is that Sinn Fein have gained a seat at the expense of Fine Gael in the Buncrana Electoral Area (South Inishowen).

First time candidate Terry Crossan has been elected on the ninth count, under the 1,412 quota with 1,098 votes at the expense of Fine Gael's Mickey Doherty, who polled 835 votes.
In the end up, the south Inishowen EA will be made up of two Fianna Fail, two Sinn Fein and one Independent.
