A 44-year-old man was fined for drink driving and was disqualified from holding a licence for three years.

Columba O’Donnell of 15 Beech Grove, Ardeskin, Donegal Town was due before Donegal District Court on Monday. He was not present in court.

Defence solicitor Francis Gillespie said his client was working in Scotland and could not make it home. The solicitor then entered a guilty plea on behalf of O’Donnell.

High Reading

The court heard that O’Donnell was found to be drink driving at Main Street, Donegal Town on September 29, 2017. A subsequent breath test showed an alcohol reading of 85mcg per 100ml of breath.

Judge Kevin Kilrane said it was a very high reading, almost four times the legal limit.

He banned O’Donnell from driving for three years and also fined him €250.
