Flash flooding has caused some serious problems in parts of north Donegal, and particularly around Letterkenny.

Flooding has been reported in a number of areas, and a number of business premises have been forced to close.

There has also been disruption to traffic.

Rivers of water were gushing down many streets.

The following video clip, posted on the Donegal Weather channel, gives an idea of just how heavy the rain was.

A heavy cloudburst early this afternoon led to extremely heavy rainfall over a short period of time.

Meanwhile, the temperature remains above 20 degrees in many parts of the county.

Letterkenny woman Anne Condon also posted up this video showing the extent of the rainfall.

Earlier this afternoon, Met √Čireann upgraded the thunderstorm warning for Donegal from yellow to orange.
