Funding boost for new Inishowen tourism group - 'Peninsula on brink of busy summer'
Inishowen’s new tourism body has secured funding for 2018, the Inish Times has revealed.
Explore Inishowen CLG (Company Limited by Guarantee) has received notification it has received approval for Community Services Programme (CSP) funding for its tourism community services project.
The board of Explore Inishowen CLG consists of people from across the peninsula, along with the statutory agencies involved in the tourism sector.
The new company has met on a number of occasions and will shortly be proceeding with the recruitment process for four full-time equivalent positions granted.
Welcoming Explore Inishowen’s initial funding programme, its chairperson, Seamus Neely, who is also chief executive of Donegal County Council, said Inishowen was “on the brink of a busy summer.”
He said: “A lot of work has been done to progress the Explore Inishowen project to date.
“We are on the brink of a busy summer, with the upcoming events including the 2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the Clipper 2017-18 Round the World Yacht Race, the development of Malin Head and the success of the Wild Atlantic Way.
“We are trying to progress this project, knowing that time is of the essence. We are delighted with the support we have received from across the region, from people who see the huge potential for tourism in Inishowen,” said Mr Neely.
