Locals of the Twin Towns are rallying round to help Oisin Merrit’s family as they keep a vigil by his bedside in Mallorca.

Oisin’s mother and father, Gary and Rose, and his girlfriend Josephine O'Neill have flown out to Mallorca to be by his bedside.

Staff of McKelvey’s Bar – which Oisin’s mum Rose used to run – are hosting a collection this Saturday to help the family with the cost of medical bills and the costs of the family remaining by his side.

All donations are welcome.

19 year-old Oisin, who plays for Finn Harps Reserves, had to be placed into an induced coma following an accident while he was on holidays with friends in Santa Ponsa, Mallorca.

They had all been due to return home on Tuesday.

Messages of support have been flooding in for the young football player via Social Media.
