Urris GAA club will hold their annual Duck Race on St. Stephen’s Day at Binion River. This event is now in its ninth year and is going from strength to strength.
The club, like so many others in the area, do so much for the local community and for this reason three of the players are once again organising this event as a fundraiser for the club.
The race will take place on St. Stephen’s Day (weather permitting) at 1pm. The ducks will be launched off the walk over bridge at Binion River and the race will run towards the mouth of the sea.
Ducks are now on sale at €5 and can be purchased by contacting Alan Friel on (0879029672), Adrian Doherty (0879810304) or Michael Doherty (S) 0879975610).
Ducks will also be on sale at Centra, Clonmany this Saturday coming, December 15th from 8am to 5pm.
All are encouraged to come down on the day and cheer their duck on as it is always a great wee out day after all the Christmas Day festivities.
People are allowed to dress up their duck, paint their duck, colour their duck – they can even train it but ultimately bring the duck along on the day. 1st duck home will receive €150 – 2nd duck back will receive €100 and 3rd placed duck will receive €50.
There will also be a €50 prize for the last duck home! Spot prizes will be awarded on the day for the best dressed duck and for guessing the time of the race. At he end of the race you can collect your duck and take it home – hopefully it’s the winning duck!!
This Duck Race has being going from strength to strength in the last number of years and great thanks must go the people of the Clonmany parish for their great support year after year.
