Gardai have issued a warning to Donegal phone users after it emerged that some people in the county have been inundated with unsolicited calls to their mobile phones.
The calls are emanating from countries with an African country prefix including Liberia and Morocco.
The advise is simple. Do not answer the phone or do not ring back.
Sone people are placed on hold and credits are being eaten into.
While it can’t be confirmed to Donegal Now the calls may also be computer generated.
The exact nature of how these scams are generating money for the people instigating the calls is also under investigation.
So beware of who you are answering the phone to, when an unrecognisable phone number comes up!
